CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:
A continuation of the work done in FR 151.
[Note: Not open to students who have completed high school French immersion program. Not open to students
with advanced, near-native or native ability in French.]
Prereq: FR 151 or Ontario Grade 11 French.
Antireq: Ontario Grade 12 French and/or OAC French or 4U Core French or Immersion French or Extended French.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
In FR 152 students develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for interactive communication in the following areas: daily life and responsibilities, past experiences, travel, regional cuisine and cultural diversity. Students are exposed to cultural aspects of life in France, French Canada and other French-speaking countries.
Students are encouraged to develop their own objectives and set personal goals. What might these be? A certain mark? An ability to understand spoken French better? An increased vocabulary? A better understanding of language structure? Being less shy of making an error when speaking French? Learning how to be a better language learner?
EVALUATION:
4 Written Chapter Tests - 40%
Oral Test (Module 9) - 10%
Participation / Attendance (in class & labs) - 10%
Comprehension test (in lab) - 10%
Final Exam (2 hours) - 30%

1. Students register for three class hours and one lab hour.
2. FR 152 is offered Fall, Winter and Spring terms on campus and through Distance
Education. The course texts are different in the different formats. FR 152 campus
uses Motifs (see above) FR 152 distance uses Bonne route! (De Meo et al)
3. FR 152 counts toward a minor in French and for the French Studies Level I certificate.
