FR 151 - Basic French 1

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

For students with some elementary or secondary school French not exceeding Year Two (Grade Ten in Ontario) or equivalent. Emphasizes comprehension, grammar and basic speaking skills.
[Note: Not open to students who have completed high school French immersion program or FR 152. Not open to students with advanced, near-native or native ability in French.]

Antireq: Ontario Grade 11 French or OAC French or 4U Core French or Immersion French or Extended French.

Also offered online

NOTE: Students registered in FR 151 and 152 (or any other UW or WLU French course) simultaneously will not be granted credit for FR 151.


COURSE OBJECTIVES:

In FR 151 students develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for interactive communication in the following areas: social interactions, ordering food, work and leisure activities, interpersonal relations in the family and community, and city life. Students are exposed to cultural aspects of life in France, French Canada and other French-speaking countries and are encouraged to share their own experience.
